Snackcenter Eindhoven: Always Seeking Optimal Return
On Thursday, March 14th, we visited Lisheng at his establishment on Leenderweg in Eindhoven. He proudly showed off his brand-new pre-frying oven; an investment made to increase production during peak demand times.
Lisheng shares, “I’m constantly seeking the ideal balance between my opening hours and the returns they generate.” Recently, he decided to close his shop on Mondays and Tuesdays, but conversely, he now stays open until 1 AM on weekends. “I believe I'm unique in that regard as a cafeteria.” More on that later.
Out of necessity, he started using Butlaroo during the Coronavirus pandemic in 2021, but has since fully embraced the system, adding not only QR codes but also two ordering kiosks and a webshop, and he’s considering a pickup screen for his wishlist.
Although Lisheng speaks fluent Dutch, he encountered language and technical knowledge barriers during the startup and implementation phases. “Fortunately, Butlaroo accommodated this by including a Chinese-speaking partner, which significantly eased the process.” He also appreciates that Butlaroo is based in Eindhoven: “I could just walk into their office if I wanted to, but the system is running smoothly now, so I really don’t need to.”
With rising costs in cafeterias (energy, personnel, and housing costs) putting pressure on margins, Lisheng is continually making decisions for optimal profitability in his business. Staff availability also plays a role. “During quiet times, I can run the shop by myself. Guests place their orders via the kiosk, QR code, or online through the website. This allows me to focus entirely on production and easily handle all orders by myself. During busy times, especially on weekends and after 8:00 PM, I do everything I can to maximize revenue.” From this perspective, Lisheng chose to close on Mondays and Tuesdays but scale up during the busiest times; on weekend nights, even staying open until 1 AM. “I pull out all the stops to generate maximum revenue at these times. Butlaroo’s applications greatly assist me with this.” All orders, whether placed through the website or in the shop, are processed by Butlaroo into concrete orders. I no longer spend any time taking orders or on administration, so my staff and I can fully focus on preparing products and, more recently, delivering to customers' homes. This makes me independent of Thuisbezorgd or other meal platforms, which I find very beneficial.
“I am very pleased with all the new developments from Butlaroo. They help me to increase my turnover in an easier way. Soon, I plan to start using a pickup screen so guests can see when their order is ready to be picked up at the counter. I hope this will be another great step forward.”
Lisheng of Snackcenter is all about maximizing returns, and Butlaroo is eager to help him achieve that. If you also want to maximize your business's returns through smart digital applications, we're here to think along with you.
